Sina Farrugia
was born and educated in Malta, graduating with distinction
from Mater Admirabilis College of Education in 1971.
She studied Art at the Malta School of Art, and Ceramics at the Malta
School for Craftsmen. She is a teacher and subject co ordinator of
Art with the Education Department.
In 1983, she set up her own Ceramic Studio while furthering her studies
at Brunel University in England. She is a member of the Craft Potters
Association of Great Britain and of the Malta Society of Arts, Manufacture
and Commerce.
Sina's ceramic work is carrled out mainly at earthenware temperatures
in an electric kiln. She uses
various ceramic techniques to imbue her work with texture and colour.
Her 3 D work (which is all hand built)
consists of coiled vases, bowls and sculptures. Her reliefs are a
combination of wall plaques, platters and plates Sina also draws.
Her drawings are carried out mainly in charcoal and pencil. Her work
is found in private collections in Malta and abroad.
